Nest in Small is built around one question: will it fit?
Most small-space advice is photos of rooms you can’t measure. This site works the other way round — starting from a room’s real dimensions and working toward layouts that still leave space to walk, open drawers, and get in and out of bed.
What you’ll find here
- Layouts for real room sizes. Bedrooms, living rooms, kids’ rooms and dining spaces, worked out for the dimensions people actually have.
- The inches behind the advice. Walkway widths, space beside a bed, room to pull out a chair — the clearances that decide whether a layout works day to day.
- Honest fit checks. Whether a bed, sofa or table fits a specific room, and what has to give when it doesn’t.
What we’re working on
Tools that do the measuring for you: a room solver that suggests layouts for your exact room and furniture, a checker for getting a sofa through doors and stairways, and quick calculators for rugs, TVs and curtains.
