How it checks
Every layout is tested, not guessed
01 — Fit
Inside the room, no overlaps
Every piece sits fully inside your walls, against a wall, without touching another piece or the door’s swing area.
02 — Use
Room to actually use it
Bed sides, the path at the foot, desk chair pull-back and space to open drawers and stand, at the clearance level you pick.
03 — Move
A path that connects
A walking route from the door reaches every bed side, the desk and the dresser at your chosen walkway width.
This is a planning model, not a guarantee. Measure your real room, and check things it doesn’t model: which side the door hinges on, outlets, radiators and window sill heights.
The numbers behind it
These are the rules every layout has to pass, at the clearance level you pick. If your room fails, the solver says which check failed and tests changes that would fix it.
| Check | Minimum · Standard · Roomy | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Beside and at the foot of the bed | 22″ · 24″ · 30″ | Houzz: at least 24″ for minor paths, 30–48″ for main ones. The 22″ Minimum is our own setting, a little under that, to show what nearly fits. |
| Walking route from the door | 22″ · 24″ · 30″ | The same widths, checked on a grid from the door to each bed side you need, the foot of the bed, the desk and the dresser. |
| Desk chair | 26″ · 30″ · 36″ | House Plans Helper: 23″ at the least, 30″ for a larger chair. |
| In front of the dresser | 31″ · 34″ · 40″ | A 16″ open drawer plus 15″, 18″ or 24″ to stand in front of it. |
| In front of the closet | 24″ | A planning rule. Change it in the closet settings. |
| Door swing | Kept clear | A square as wide as the door stays free of furniture. |
